Kids’ Play at Eagle Ridge Every Saturday afternoon this summer, Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in northwestern Illinois will hold a one-hour golf clinic for children sixteen and under that costs just five dollars. Additionally, kids accompanied by an adult can play for free Mondays through Thursdays on the resort’s nine-hole East Course. Eagle Ridge, set in a lush river valley and including sixty-three holes of golf, was voted last year by T+L GOLF readers as the Midwest’s most underrated resort. Suncadia Opens Lodge This Cascade Mountain resort eighty miles east of Seattle has opened a 254-room hotel built in the style of a national-park lodge. The Lodge at Suncadia (rooms from $189) offers golfers a housing option beyond the resort’s often-booked eighteen-room inn and a rental pool of luxury homes. Both of Suncadia’s courses—Prospector (2005), a public eighteen by Arnold Palmer Design, and Tom Doak’s private Tumble Creek (2006)—opened to acclaim. A second public course, by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, is to open in 2010. Call 866-904-6301 or visit suncadiaresort.com.
