Amtrak’s Coast Starlight stops at downtown’s Union Station on its run between Los Angeles and Seattle; the Empire Builder connects Portland with Spokane, Minneapolis, and Chicago; and the Cascades runs from Eugene through Portland to Seattle and Vancouver (www.amtrak.com).
