A certifiable must-see, this whimsical, wonderful museum (just across the Museum Hill Courtyard from the MIAC) contains the world's largest trove of folk art. Much of the exhibit space in the modern, imaginatively laid-out facility holds temporary exhibits; past collections have ranged from circa-3000 B.C. Japanese folk ceramics to contemporary scroll painting from West Bengal, India. Set aside at least an hour to explore the infectiously amusing Girard Wing, a permanent collection of some 110,000 miniature figures and dolls, arranged in dozens of cleverly themed dioramas.

Tip: Don’t miss stepping into the Milner Plaza Labyrinth, near the museum's front entrance. If you stand in the center of this low-walled circular maze and speak quietly, you'll experience the labyrinth's eerie echo-chamber effect.

Admission: $8 (included with $18 museum pass). Closed Mondays, except summer.
